Greaseless or Abrasive Wheels?

I'm looking for a more agresive cutting action to smooth out the rough casting on a ATV cylinder. What do you guys recomend Greasless or the abrasive wheel set up.

both should work good for what you need to do also look at the expander wheel on caswells site it looks like a good choice also. i have only used greaseless so i cannot speak from experience about the others, the greaseless is good but has some quirks to work through. try a search on greaseless in this forum and you will get lots of info on it. also some of the other users will respond on their experiences with each product, just be patient. best of luck bro.

greaseless and some time on sanding .. I use grease less for all .. but cliff did mention this product last night on the phone :

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been following this forum for awhile and have read about the dfficilties w/ the greaseless. I wonder if the abrassive wheels would last longer once set up?

Custom- I am going to try the black/spiral then white/spiral tonight as you have sugested to others. I haven't gotten great results w/ the steps listed in the manual... I hope it works better

To me it is faster to use a 3M disk (coarse,med. fine) or a flapper wheel (80-120 grit) and then black with yellow vented wheel. Then the white with loose cotton.
THis is if you can get to the area with the 3M disk, or flapper wheel, on a die grinder.

I have used the 3M discks, but I don't have a air compressor at home- only at work. Does anyone know of a 90 degree die grinder that is electric? I tried the disks w/ my flex shaft, but it didn't work very well.

The setup wheel is _far_ more agressive, almost like a solid grinding wheel until it's used a while. Good for heavy removal but need to go to the greaseless before too long or you'll get gouges.

That's the setup wheel stuff. I've been using it since last year with 80 and 120. It's great for real heavy removal but you gotta be careful with it - the wheels are hard as a rock until you break them in, and keep the rpm's down or it'll come off and whack you (don't ask how I know). Also make sure your coating is even (smooth it out b4 the glue dries) or you'll get gouges.

Thanks for the input guys. I think that I will go w/ the greaseless if I can't find a better way to spin my 3M disks.

i use the sprial for almost every part of polishing the sisal is good for removing the blue from you cycle pipes
