I have a handgun that has a brushed chrome finish on it.....
If I wanted to get a Bright chrome finish on it, could this be done through polishing? Or, would the gun have to be stripped and refinished again? tim |

Well Tim do you have polishing equipment like a polishing motor buffs and compounds
with out these its going to tough . But if you do have these things this is the first thing you will need to know. All compounds can cut through plating. You can do more damage than good polishing a thinly plated part. Also be careful polishing clear coat. Generally, you should remove all clear coat to do any polishing. Try not to mix aggressive compounds with color compounds on the same buff. If you need to use the same buff, clean it with a raking action. A file edge is best, but any heavy gauge metal, hard and straight will work. Now chances are that you do not have to worry about clear coat. Having said this I have to say that most satin finishes I have worked with are usually put there before plating . If you have some white compound and a loose cotton wheel just try a small spot on the gun . If you don’t feel free to give me a call we will see what we can do for you
