Default great job josh

Sounds like you've got this thing down Josh. One more thing is your wheel size. The drill should bo fine but try stepping up to an 8" wheel. Progress is much much faster. Make sure to post those pics. I am anxious to see your finished product. Maybe you can meet up with my crew at bike week. We are the Dirty Shore Boyz. We also ride with the Jersy Shore Mayhem. Hope to see you.

Default frame frustrations

I have a 6" bench grider but I need to buy some more wheels because I only have one. I had to find out the hard way about using a different wheels for each compound. Hell, I would love to meet up with you guys so I know what a real polish finish should look like. I am still not satisfied with the finished product, but I am happy with the improvements that I have made with the help of this forum. Because I am strapped for time, I will just do the best I can until after bikeweek when there is still way to much snow to ride. Not to mention the friged tempatures of Minnesota.
Pics will be up in about two weeks.

Josh;

Keep in mind that "mirror finishes" my not pass safety tech with your race organization. Even if it is allowed by rules, it is generally frowned upon.

Default frame frustrations.

Finally finished both sides of the frame of my bike and have learned alot from this forum. A couple of tips for begginers: USE ANODIZE STRIPPER It will be money well spent also it provides for a much better finish because you dont have those deep scratches from sanding with grits like 180 or coarser. You can also fit two of caswells 4" buffing pads on an 1/2" arbor that caswell sells if you are using a drill. this allows you to cover more space and get more of a uniform finish. Thanks everyone for all the help during my project. Josh

Your bike looks awsome. I don't know why you where complaining about the finish not being perfect because that's how it looks. Great job.

Heat the part up with a propane torch. A lot of people here say it isn't neccessary, but I have had very good results with it. Keeps the compound from loading on the metal surface. Use the white and loose cotton buff.

Default Polishing motorcycle frames, swingarms, etc...

I have been polishing motorcycle's for about six years know and it is not as hard as you think. Motorcycles will come out with a brownish haze if you do not use the white, why i have no idea but it does. You will not get that perfect shine to you because you are doing the job, I have been doing this for many years and I still hate the way my bike looks and everyone else loves it. It is you, trust me. To get rid of the real fine scratches do like they say in the booklet, i found that plain old baby powder works just fine to get the real fine scratches out. Once you have gotten to this point, take a piece outside in the sun, now get some Blue Magic metal polish and some [b]charman[/b toilet paper and only charman. use the toilet paper to apply and take off the polish and the piece should look great.
sincerely
