I was wondering how you tell when a buffing wheel is toast? The ones I am using are 4" from Home Depot that arent really that great to begin with. I noticed on my wheels that the middle is wore down more than the outsides, will that make a difference? Also they seem to get filled with compound easier than when they were new. I rake them every 2-3 min. while adding compound about 1 sec for a minute of polishing.

They'll be done when they wear away to such a size as to be unusable.
