Stainless
Trying to do a pair of brake rotors. The holes and slots make it so I can only go in one direction at any given spot (not 90 degrees).
Went 120/220 jitterbug, 320 greasless, then sisal and airways wheels with emery. It's all blotchy. Any recommendation? Shoud I go to white next, or to green?

i have some s.s. trim pieces in the shop right now that i cant get a 90 degree cut on. i sanded the same as you from 220 to 320 with da, then hand to 600. started out with my 4"electric grinderand 6" spiral wheels with emory. same effect as yours. get good shine but with shadowy spots tried going 180 and it helped out the spots on my parts. dont know where you are working on the discs. if it on the pad surface it should be ok to reverse that way the slot edges will get a cut from both directions. its worth a try

Thanks guys - I got the shadows out with a spiral/green but then the scratches came out from the 320...I'll go wet with 600/jitterbug today, then back to the green. Except for the fine scratches, man does that stainless get bright!

i am fighting the same with the s.s. trim i am on right now it shine like crazy but micro scratches are still there.

actually i speed things up and it is working better. i ordered new 10" vented wheels and double stacked them. using the extra fast cut s.s. compound. then second cut is 10" spiral with the green and it is working good. i think i was using a little to much pressure also. now with the faster speed and less pressure it looks like the scratches go away. i will add pics later today.

2 more pics. this stuff was made in the early 60's so you can imagine the scuffs and scratches.
