Default Polishing plastic?

Not just any plastic...was a fellow on here a while ago said he polished his glasses. I hate these modern plastic lenses since I work in harsh environments in my day job, and of course they get messed up in the polishing shop as well.

Anybody ever try it? I can't afford new glasses just now. Seems to me it would be pretty tricky.

Yea use the blue compound with the loose cotton and don't use a lot of pressure, and go with the wheel direction not against the wheel direction.
Watch for the edges cause the wheel will catch and their goes your lens...

Depending on how bad they are, the trick I used with CD's also worked on my kids glasses. Some of the old style white paste toothpaste, a little water and your thumb. The abrasives in toothpaste are micro-fine and if you start out thick and slowly thin out with water will leave the lens real clear. Both my kids wore glasses and neither were very nice to them when they were younger.

You want to keep the heat way down, try a wheel combo that will get you to around 1700 surface speed.

Now that's a good idea...I forgot about that stuff. I'll try that first, since the scratches are not bad at all. I do have some blue compound, maybe I'll try that on a plastic lens to see what it does.

Thanks y'all.

The blueish paste does alright but gels don't do anything. I keep a tube of Colgate in my dive bag to clean my scuba masks.
