Has anyone tried the different grit compounds that come in a sausage looking bag, they offer different grit to appply to the wheels. It says greasless.

i have used it and love it. it makes cutting down much faster. it is more of a rubberized type of compound. you apply it to the wheel a little different also and then let it dry. then in 15 mins or so you have a flexible sanding wheel at whatever grit you choose. it is great for initial cut down on cast parts that would need lots of sanding. they have it up to 400 grit and then i move to vented and emory.

I use an old hair dryer to speed things up - it doesn't last long on the wheel and seems to take forever to dry otherwise. Run your wheel up to speed, jam the sausage to it then turn off the machine and let dry, otherwise it'll fly right off. I also use two or three coats to make it last longer on the wheel.
