i cant say where to get them but if you can find some real thin buffs that are loose sewn. and as for prep i would blast the parts first with a fine grit glass bead. that will semi polish the surface and make it all equal as far as color.
when in doubt polish it out/ why replace it when you can refinish it

Hi, I intend to do the same (polish the fins only to a mirror finish) for my head and jugs belonging to a V-Twin 1500cc.

I had to use a wire brush to remove the paint on heads because the paint stripper did not work so well. The wire brush had left scratch marks on the head fins and there are some paint marks still present on the head fins. The paint on the jugs were easily removed with the paint stripper alone.
The heads and jugs will be blasted with glass beat.
    The fins are 3/8" apart.

Upon blasting them, should I use cratex cylinders, catridge rolls or razor buffs next?

The razors come in various sizes shown below.

    Razor Buffs
    RZ4 4” $2.99
    RZ6 6” $3.99
    RZ8 8” $4.99

Which size do I use and how many of them?
What compounds are to be used with them?
Are the razors meant to prep, polish or (prep and polish) the metal?

Are the razors sufficient to bring the fins to a mirror finish or do I also need other polishing tools? (Assorted Felt bob Kit, loose cotton wheel and etc).

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers
    Marcus

been awhile since i did any polishing but it comes right back. are you only trying to get the outer edges of the fins? if so you can use any whaeel and not the raor buffs. if tou want all the way down inside the the size of razor will be determined by the depth of the fins. i wouls use a cratex if they are rteal rough castings. if they are fairly smooth the start off with emory and work up till you get the shine you want.
