I've buffed and polished a part prior to electroless nickel plating. Original part was chrome but was pitted. Now it's polished copper, brass and a bit of chrome still left. I cannot get the part to pass the water break test. I've left it overnight in solvent, washed with dish soap, tried a degreaser and obviously started with a 2day bath in SP degreaser. Water still beads and my first attempt at plating it was a failure. How do you get the compound off the part?

Make sure your cleaner is heated up around 150 degrees this will help.
