Default why would it do that???

So finally, after much frustration, I'm getting good results. I'm doing the final polish with the Blue compound and a Flanel canton wheel and it's ruining all my work!!?? It left my piece hazy and dull and scratched?? I cleaned the wheel again, raked my wheel and hit it again with the same results. I went back to the Loose cotton/green compound and got my nice shine back but it's still missing that final high lustre that I'm looking for.......

Are you cleaning the previous compound from the wheel prior to using the blue and canton flannel? If you are not, then you are mixing the compounds and it would leave you with a less than high luster finish. What is the metal, aluminum? Then you may want to use the F515-6127 with a canton flannel.

Thoroughly cleaned the previous compund off each time I switched, no issues there, and yes it is aluminum.

I had the same problem. Are you sure the integrity of the wheel is sound? Could it be that you're not putting enough compound on? I'm a noob, but I figure any input can trigger more suggestions.

Wheels are new, this is my first real project so I'm REALLY a noob. I'm pretty sure I'm using enough compound, I dunno I'm stumped....

Shaw_2112,

I had a similar problem with some aluminum polishing and was able to find locally, some 3" MOUNTED loose buffs. I put very little white compound on the buff and it cleared up the hazy problem. I used them in a 3/8" electric drill motor. Don't know if Caswell has any buff's like this or not.

hey bro that wheel looks good. never appoligize for a job you did yourself and trying to learn. also keep in mind that you saved around 75-100 dollars. that is what i would have charged for a job like that.

Agreed. I was pretty humble in the beginning. Great job.
