I have been trying to restore my fireplace insert doors and am having no luck. The finish is nickel plating over solid brass. The problem is that the heat has discolored the finish, turning it brown, similar to what you might find in an oven. I have tried creosote remover and steel wool with little success. I am afraid to try oven cleaner.
Anyone have any experience with this sort of thing? Any suggestions? And after getting it cleaned up, is there something that will protect the finish, even with the extremely high temperatures? |

I would suggest the following item to get the polish look back: CRPOL45Chrome & Nickel Polishing Kit $53.19
this will remove the heat discoloration and restore the shine.
