Polishing black anodize

Due to my spotty results (sooty, chalky, dull surface) in black anodizing aluminum I discovered that black anodize can be polished to high gloss with metal polish (Mothers mag polish). Labor intensive though!! Has anyone tried polishing anodized machined parts in a vibratory tumbler with treated shells? Or does anybody have other methods that they would be willing to share? You may want to read through the anodizing forum. There may be something in the ano process that is not correct.

From your description, you're still dealing with a dissolution problem. The parts shouldn't need anymore than wiped with a soft clothe.
