Default Creating "brushed satin" from shiny chrome?

Is it possible to turn a shiny chrome surface into a well-executed "brushed satin" finish, on a small object, like a chrome kitchen faucet? Can it be done simply by roughing the chrome with the proper grade of steel wool? If this wouldn't work, or if it would only produce a sloppy, non-uniform brushed effect, does anyone know of other options to make chrome look like real brushed satin?

On something small like that you should be able to do it using greaseless compound on a buffing wheel. 320-grit would probably be OK. Just hit it lightly or you'll burn through the plating.

Try our 'Scrubber' wheels. They will provide a satin finish, but you may actually remover the chrome, exposing the nickel.
