Default liquid diamond

just out of curiousity, is there a buffing wheel capable of holding liquid diamond ? preferably something like pure silk as it is 1 micron diamonds in oil (it came with a big silk disc so i assume this would be the best material to apply it with) at present im applying it by hand but a mop would be much quicker, if not silk what is the softest mop available ?

I'm not familiar with polishing with this stuff, but it seems to me it would be thrown off of a machine-driven wheel in short order.

ive tried with a felt bob but its like you say (just flies off everywhere) its a little bit too expensive to waste so i guess il have to carry on doing it by hand, im quite surprised nobody is using it as it totally eliminates the finest scratches that are left after polishing with a cotton mop.

That's a good idea but it's not part of most polishers' arsenals. I might have to give it a try, as I usually have problems getting rid of those dang swirlies myself...

Cool. I haven't looked for it yet but I do believe when I was building my wife a reflector telescope I saw something about using the stuff to hand-lap a 6" mirror, so it's probably readily obtainable. I imagine lapidary people would use it as well. I'll let you know if I can't find it and I truly appreciate the offer.

If you do a search there's a thread in here somewhere about using india ink to make aluminum optically "perfect". Now you talk about a mess, lol...

no problem, the stuff i have is made by kemet, i have 1 micron (oil based) & 3 micron (water based) or the other way around lol, i think its different to the cheap diamond paste stuff on ebay, it would be nice to see what kind of finish a proffesional polisher could get from it instead of my inexperienced cloudy burnt warped look finish, (but no fine scratches) lol,
