Default Rough (corroded?) Alloy Wheels

My rear wheels look almost as nice as the pic below. Front ones are black w/brake dust. The black stuff seems baked on. My guess is the previous owner didn't like washing his rims.

But it gets worse: inside the spoked areas there are lots of irregular patches of raised areas, maybe almost a mm in height, that are Very rough and dont want to be scraped off w/a fingernail (ouch! Dang!)

Worse yet, as seen in the pic there are MANY nooks and crannies throughout the spoked rim. Big enough to get a couple fingers in, but dang, it looks like a more difficult job than a large surface area rim.

What direction should I go? What product? Do you sell Dremel attachments or would the Al & Cu Alloy Polishing kit fit? Maybe I should just pass the headache on to a Pro?

BTW there doesnt seem to be any clear coat on any of them.
Thanks

Default Re: Rough (corroded?) Alloy Wheels

That is going to be a major pain to polish (at least it would be for me). If you can afford it you should probably let a pro do it.

But...if you have more time than money (like me ), or just have a lot of time on your hands, I suppose you could get most of the inter-spoke areas with cartridge rolls on a die grinder and/or felt bobs with greaseless compounds. I'm assuming those aren't real "spokes", but if they were you would take the wheel apart to polish the rim.
