Default i'm stumped ? help using compound

ok so I have a mostly smooth shiny finish to soem bits under my cars hood i wanna turn glaringly shiny. soo after doing some reading here i purchased a white compound bar to put me over the top to the shine i want..

fast forward to my ups delevery .....................

soo i open the box and i find the white compound , WOW this thing is a brick!, my only other experiance with polishing wa smothers metal polish which i smeard on the part and rubbed away .

now my question is how the heck do i use this bar ? i'm not sure if i read anywhere other than seeing pictures ?? do i rub it across the part like a stick of butter heat it and melt it ..
please excuse me if i sound like a dumbass ..

any help metal polsihing gurus ?

oh can i use this with my mothers power ball polisher and a cordless drill ?

you have to get a buffing wheel and put it on a drill or grinder or something. then press the bar against the spinning wheel and the heat will melt the bar and apply it to the wheel. then polish the part with the wheel.

that might do it, just keep in mind you get what you pay for. it might not last long. try getting the arbor adapter from caswell and using your drill or get a name brand bench grinder. if you go with a bench grinder get 6 or 8 inch buffs. if you go with the drill get a 4 inch or 3 inch buff. also i highly recommend using the cushion buffs with the white bar. read through the sticky at the top of the forum about picking the right buff.

thanks for the help , ive read the sticky but random answers i'm looking for i seem to overlook until pointed out .. after asking 2 question here earlier i RE read the sticky and found some info..

also that is a cheap buffer and may get what i pay for but ideally it wont be used for production polishing just touching up what i currently have polished under my hood..

soo i think it might work.. have to ask mrs. claus for it or be impatient and buy somehting i probably wont use until after xmas..

Ok I have a 1.5hp motor here and let me tell you its great for small parts jewelry and such but on larger parts when you need to apply some pressure you will find that the motor will load up and even stop you need a 3 1/4 hp at least and the wheels there are lots of different types some for cutting some for buffing and so on if you call a Caswells Rep they can surely tell you what you need and how to use it. And remember this is what this forum is for there really are no stupid questions. The motors I use in my business are a 1.5hp 3450rpm for small parts a 3 1/4 hp 1725rpm for buffing and a 2 hp 3450 rpm for the big jobs
