Default first time using sisal wheels

just got my first sisal wheel from caswell and im having a little trouble, when i switched on the buffer with the new sisal wheel lots of sections started to release the fibers (like weeds growing out of a grass field), also i could not get the emery compound to stick to the wheel it just took a big section of the compound bar in seconds.

can someone tell me what i need to to or what im doing wrong.

In my experience most types of wheels will shed right off the bat...I just trim them with scissors since the stray long fibers hurt like h*ll.

Just apply the compound a half-second jab or so, not much pressure. You need to do it more often with sisal - it's on there, tho it might not turn the wheel black right away. Anyhow, I suspect that with sisal the fibers are doing as much cutting as the compound is...
