Ok, I’m completely new at this polishing so please don’t beat me up too badly. And I looked thru all the other postings.
I’m trying to restore to mirror finish a set of hubcaps that over the years have rubbed up against the curbs. They have some fairly deep scratches. What are the steps I need to do to get them back to a mirror finish? I have a complete metal fabricating shop and most all the tools. Just lacking the know how. TY |

If they are heavily scratched, start with 80 grit greaseless. Work your way through the grits to about 600. Then hit it with green compound.
Please read the buffing guide: http://www.caswellplating.com/buffs/buffman.htm It is a very good first step to familiarize you with the terms and methods used for buffing. |
