I am looking at a 1hp bench buffer with 10" wheels. Is 3450rpm to fast, should I get a 1750rpm. Or should I go with 8" wheels. I will be buffing steel, aluminum, and copper. Thanks tbreaden

Either one will work, the 1750 is probably has more torque and with a 10 inch wheel that surface speed is plenty fast. The 1750 would be my choice, i had two 5 HP and one 3 HP buffers spinning at 1750. If you are going to use it allot and plan on doing more than small, thin, or light duty stuff then i highly recommend a 3 HP. It can be dangerous and the 5 HP can be deadly.
I can stop a 1 HP with my hand, my 3 HP with a buff rake, but the 5 HP will not stop. |
