    Default stupid newbie question

I have a really stupid question, but....I just bought a Caswell 2 HP buffer and some buffing pads. The hole in the pads is much smaller than the size of the shafts. The shaft ends are threaded, should I try to screw them on??
    Aprreciate your help.

Yep. I've screwed buffs with a 1/2" hole onto a 5/8" shaft and had no problems.
