Default Grinder choice + questions.

Hi, I've been lurking for a while, and now I have a question.
I have been using 4" buffs/greaseless/compounds w/ a hand drill for a while and although I get good results, it takes a long time.

I am looking to step up to a bench buffer, up in canada there isnt a whole lot of selection. So I am a little stuck converting a bench grinder.

Here is my choice:
Specs:
General International 8'' Bench Grinder.
Wheel Sizes: 8'' x 1'' (203 x 25.4 mm).
Arbor Speed: 3450 RPM.
Arbor Size: 5/8'' (16 mm).
Wheel Grits: 36/60.
Motor 1 HP, 110 V, 1 Ph, 8 A.
Weight: 59 Lbs. (27 kg).

The shafts dont stick out very far, and the housing is rather bulky, so I will be looking at something to extend them.

Now I know caswell sells shaft extenders that I can use on a motor with a flat on the shaft for the grub screws...,
But has anyone used them on a grinder shaft that has threads?
Do the grub screws mess up the threads?
Does the shaft extender grab enough "meat" to hold it on there when I'm getting on the buffs pretty hard?

Thank you for looking, I'll post up some pics of my work soon.
Cheers

The shaft extenders will hold great. As far as the threads go, I think that it will leave some flat spots. I can't guarantee that it wont' do anything to them.
