I'm brushing up on my polishing skills as has been a few years since my last real project. I am going to pick up a Mustang intake to practice on....
What would be best to get the initial finish off.....just start sanding with a air sander on a fairly rough grit? (just some googled photos) ![]()

y2kgtp,
When your in the process of striping the intake use a plastic scraper so that you don't scratch the aluminum! If the manifold is fairly smooth other that casting remains, I'd take care of the casting remains first, then try some emery on a sisal buff. You may not have to sand depends on how the aluminum is after you have it stripped! If it's to rough then use some greaseless and then move to the emery. John |

if you are talking about the thin ridged areas, caswell has something for that.
