Has anyone ever used a spinning lathe ,to take down surface on rough Alcoa wheels?

Not sure what you mean?
I have a lathe with 16" swing, I don't think I want to mount a wheel on it though. I guess I could?

I don't think turning a wheel on a lathe is a very good idea myself. If you really know what you are doing maybe you could, but them you probably would not be asking either LOL.

I hesitated with this one because I'm not a machinist and never ran a metal lathe (wood lathe, though). But that seems like a whole lot of weight to be flying around...s'pose it got out of balance? Novel idea, though.
