Default Make your own belts?

I often have trouble finding sanding belts and sleeves in the sizes/grits I need. It appears the ones I buy are put together with some sort of clear plastic tape which must be industrial strength, considering the stress and heat they can hold up to.

Anybody have a clue where to get such tape? I've had some success with plain old duct tape for low-speed applications but any heat buildup sorta turns it into a gooey mess.

I'm gonna google a bit, but any tips would be appreciated.
