Nice!

If you ever do it again, try the tripoli (brown) first, then the white.

I'll try using the brown 1st on one part this week. Thanks.
Here is an outdoor shot.

Thumbs up Re: Repolishing questions

Slacker...

Now you have to wear white gloves to ride it and you'll freak out if you spill fuel, ride in rain or go thru any muddy streets!

...ah the cost of a mirror finish...

It's a chick magnet though!

The other day I tested a small piece using the brown compound. It made the
aluminum 'slightly' hazy. I wiped it clean with rubbing alcohol, than I hit it
with a new wheel with white compound. It brought the shine back to where
it was before I hit it with the brown. Should this have happened or did
I do something wrong?

Oh, and here's another pic of my handy work. I think it's pretty darn good
for an absolute newbie,huh?

Not sure I get the question. Are you disappointed that it didn't get _better_ than it was before?

As you say, it does look pretty darn good...and if you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

Cool Re: Repolishing questions

Hum....hard to tell... did you let the brown dry and turn black before stopping the wheel? If so how long and how fast did you go?...were you using correct RPM and what wheel with brown? Were you using a cut ot color motion?

I'd do Spiral Sewn wheel with brown in a color motion and a loose cotton with the white also color motions.

You may have had speed to fast on brown and two slow on white!

I know, I know everyone hate's to do the Math but you must DO the calculations...

..."For best results your wheel should maintain a surface speed of between 3600 & 7500 Surface Feet Per Minute. (SFPM). The higher your speed, the better and quicker your results.

Formula for calculating surface speed of wheel in SFPM.
SFPM = 1/4 x diameter of Wheel x RPM (revs of spindle per min.)

Therefore an 8” wheel @ 3600 RPM =2 x 3600 = 7200SFPM. Spindle speeds can be increased by a step pulley on a motor shaft...."

OK so test and polish, brown should shine the surface! the white should make it POP! no haze, no fog no nothing...if you don't say WOW your not done!

Good luck...

Erck
