Default flitz vs mothers mag & aluminum polish

This is just from my experience as a new person to the polishing industry. I bought both of these polishes and there is a big difference. I used the mothers first on a motorcyle frame i had sanded and buffed and polished out. the mothers mag and polish did a wonderful job immediately, and after about 3 coats i was looking at a mirror (not a scratch in site). I then tried the flitz fiberglass cleaner and metal polish on the same side i just did. OMG I could actually hear this stuff scratching the metal as i rubbed it in. I quickly removed the black residue and to my suprise there were more micro scratches than I had with after coming strait off the buffing machine. I dont know if this is the same for all metals or just aluminum, or just my experience. I thought I would share this with everyone, hope this helps. Oh is this polish acutually hiding the scratches through the layers or are they actually gone at this point?

You must have good hearing...the Flitz is advertised as having NO abrasives, and in my experience has none. I've seen no difference between the Mother's and Flitz in removing (or producing) microscratches (they don't, mostly). I assume you're using microfiber cloths - whatever the polish is applied with can make a bigger difference than what brand the polish is.

Flitz paste leaves a little wax behind; the liquid doesn't. Not sure about Mother's.

As a matter of fact I do have excellent hearing glad you noticed. I used a microfiber cloth with both applications actually the same 1. I just used different ends of it for each polish. I used the flitz paste in the tube, it sounded and felt like it was abbrasive, like comet or something. Maybe Ill try a couple of applications like i did mothers and see the results after that.

I'm a big fan of Mother's. I have never used Flitz so I can't really say anything about that. I've heard great things about it though.

I am actually wondering if Mother's could polish Ceramic Coatings as well?

it can, just not very well. I've tried it on my headers.

I Prefer Mothers for Aluminum, used it for years. Eagle one Nano polish works good too, but make sure you clean all the compound off first.

No Idea for ceramic though, haven't had to polish any yet.

curvekillaz, ETAL,

Try some Maas Metal polish http://www.maasinc.com/. Don't know whether it will polish ceramic but you might send them an email and ask!

Len,

I haven't used it. I am just going by what the reviews I have read say, they say it's really good stuff, I mostly use ZoopSeal. Or Eastwood's Diamond Clear spray for bare metal. Caswells also caries a clear spray but I haven't tried that either. French Lavender, WOW that would draw a crowd around your car!!!
