Default got a question for you guys.

alright, I have a bench grinder that takes 8x1x5/8 wheels.Well caswell doesn't sell that size so I was wondering if i could use the 8x7/8x5/8 wheels that caswell sells. If not ill just look around for the correct size.

I don't think you would have any problems with Caswells 8x7/8x5/8 wheels. They are the same size as the 8x1x5/8 wheels except these are an eight of an inch thicker. You might just need to tighten them a little more.

You probably mean tripoli. It usually goes: emery (black), tripoli (brown). then white rouge. I usually skip the tripoli.

i usually get decent results with the denim spiral sewn wheels and the tripoli only. if the 7/8 arbor wheels won't fit onto your 1", maybe drill it out to an inch? shouldn't be a problem.

Of course it depends on how far you carry the sanding. I find it convenient to use the emery to finish levelling the surface since it cuts so well. Half the time triploi just leaves a haze so I skip it. To each his own.

I don't know if he was talking about the thickness of the wheels or the arbor size. Of course the wheel holes can be drilled out, or pvc sleeves used to reduce the hole size if necessary.

If as you say you have a "bench grinder" the shafts may be a little short to use on anything you buff that is larger, IE, a valve cover. I would suggest that you get shaft extensions of the proper size that will except the wheel size that you want and or is available!
