Clear coat over polished Ali wheels or parts

hello guys,
tng21 and myself have talked about applying a PC clear coat after polishing parts, in my eyes especially Ali wheels. i have read up that the clear coat can dull the finish and best to use zoop etc for a coat. i will be PC ali wheels with colours of peoples choice, please give advice on what extra protection i would need to apply after shooting my main colour. it's going to be a long way off before i dabble into multi coats micro flake n the likes but i still dream on..if any one can advise on a clear coat that would do the trick i could practice on smaller parts in a conventional oven til my large one is complete.
this would give tng21 a little boost as well.
i love candy's over polished ali.

if you put a candy over polished aluminium you don t need any clear coat on top , candy is a clear with a tint in it.
if you put a clear directly on polishing it will dull the finish a little , it will also amplify any defects or scratches on the polished surface . you shouldtake a few polished samples and do a few tests
