Default Cleaning help PLEASE????

I have been polishing for many years and have had parts plated after polishing, but my plater has always cleaned my plates for plating. Now I am set up to do my own plating but I cannot get the polishing compound to clean off of the plates. I used the degreaser that Caswell sent me with my kits and set it up per instructions but it simply does not clean the polishing compound.

Is their some chemical I can use to remove the polishing compound before I degrease and activate the parts for palting?

Thanks in advance.

Wink Re: Cleaning help PLEASE????

Hello there,
there are varied methods and products for cleaning items.i personally use acetone in copious ammounts to clean and flush at the same time, using a lint free cloth as to not contaminate the item with fibres etc. the acetone will evaperate eventually.
i have used break cleaner in rattle can as well i have a new kitchen sink brush to get in the intricate areas but the brush isnt harsh to mark the item especially if i am polishing.

have you tried the search facility top right, keep trying typing the key words you think you will need to get your answers, there are a lot of threads out there, Chromo and banditperformance and the guys have given their help in a number of threads.
regards

Try the plating forum. Or call a plater and ask them. Perhpas some heat would help. I've always used brake cleaner or acetone and had no problem (not for plating tho). What have you used for those many years to remove the compound between steps?

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't plating require a slightly "pickled" surface as opposed to fully show polished beforehand?
