Polishing Nickel: How Do I Know When I've Gone Too Far?

I am polishing old nickel plate. How do I know when I have gone too far and started into the plating. I am using Mother's.

I'd just stop when it looks the way you want it. If you go thru the plating you should see a color change. If you're polishing by hand I doubt you'll go thru, unless you take a lot of steroids and coffee...

Now Mike you know we don't use steroids. Coffee, a lot of coffee yes. Maybe a hooker of your favorite juice also.
