After making sure he was warned, I polished the stuff and did my best to protect the inside of the crankcase. I told him to at least flush it out...never heard from him after I sent the parts back.
oh yes i beleive you i had the same but with a hd case with the crank and rods in there but i refused it did nt want to hold that thing up to my buffer for a couple of hours

LOL, I don't blame you. I'm able to get acceptable results with my big flex shaft and 4" wheels...I'm too old and feeble anymore to do it the other way.

i still have one of those flexible shaft somewhere .back then i didn t really like it
but maybe its time i get it out of the box.what size motor you use with it and at what rpm. i might have to go look for another motor i have here a 1/3 hp probably too small
and i have a 5hp 600 v definitly too big.

My shaft is heavy duty - about 4' long and the threaded end shaft is 1/2" - I bartered some polishing to get it 'cause they are expensive for my level of operation. I believe the motor is 1/3hp @ 1350rpm or so and is plenty, I never bog it down at all. I mostly use 4" or 6" razor wheels on it, also have a drill chuck to thread on the end so I can use it for any 1/4" or 1/2" tool.

One thing you can do to make it easier to use: I built a stand for it and mounted the motor on a lazy susan turntable - that way you're not constantly flexing the shaft in an S curve when you move it around.

how is it possible ? i have been doing polishing for i think 18 years as a full time business plus a couple more years before that as a side job . i do a couple of carbs for harleys every month , i can tell you that i have a dozen of different die grinders , 1/4 inch belt sanders , air files ,sanders
but when i do a carb all i use is a die grinder and the finl buffing on one of my buffing machine.
it is normal that if it is your first carb it takes forever to do but the next one should be faster and with time you will get faster and if you are serious about polishing you will get better tools and then after many years you will be laughing at how long it used to take to do a part .

here is what i do in 7 or 8 hours
( that is if i am not disturbed by customers every 5 minutes)
Greetings Gentalmen,

I looked for a place to make in intro but didnt see one,
I do my own polising on my own bike, but in the past i have done a LOT for other people i guess I kinda got burned out on it, because of incorrect tools/ space, first allow me to say that Head it some beautful work, and what would something like that cost to do, I see your not in the US so if you could give me a general idea as to what it cost US dollars.

also I would like to meet some people how have the need to make things shine like i do....lol here is my last project (got the flu before being able to finish up 100%) as you can tell I had to do a repair on one of the ears!

That's a reasonable price as i know just how much work can go into something like that, I better stick to working on Computers & leave the radical stuff to the pros how did you get into the buffing gig.......just like shiney things?

heres a photo after I finished the outter primary was just as bad as the inner
