Default How much do I charge to polish a 38mm carb (pix)

OK I polished a carb. It was REALLY tedious and time consuming. Then I polished another the same deal. These are my personal carbs and a guy is hounding me to do his Keihin 38mm PWK.
How much should I charge
The pics. this is my first.

The second one I did took equally as long. I'm almost done. This is the same model He wants me to do.

Paul the chrage woudl be the same for any Mikuni type carb 26-44 mm

BTW, I see the Vintage YZ engine in your avatar, a reminder that PWK carbs are not legal for any AHRMA Vintage Mx racing.

Anyway-looks real good to me.

I would charge at least $ 125 to buff a Mikuni/Kehien carb. I have buffed a Bing for $80, it was easy, though with many more flat surfaces.

Thank you very much for the reply. I don't want to rip the guys off but it does take lots of time.
Damn you have got a great eye for vintage motors! Impressive. That is a 79' YZ400. I used it to build my 'Hurricane Hannah Blaster' Thanks again...PB

You did a great job and I see why your buddy is hounding you. While the $125 seems high in this part of the USA, it might be reasonable in California and the like. I've polished and plated carbs for that so you'll have to feel out the local market. The right tools can speed the process but it's easy to price yourself out of the market if you intend to sell your services.

i just did a hd carb yesterday . my average time on most harley carbs is 90 minutes, for a show finish . some S nS carbs like the super E take longer
(that does not include any dismantling) the carb has to be completely stripped

I was going to ask how you did it in 7 hrs-but really want to know how Baz did one in 90 min? BTW what is an
"S&S" carb-like a butterfly carb or is that what it is called when you put a mikuni on a Harley?

Please give us some insight into the 90 min procedure. I don't think I have polished anything yet( excepting levers, perches, and fasteners) in even twice that time( unless it started as billet aluminum).
