same here cartrige rolls , felt bobs ,small polishing wheels mounted on a die grinder.
look at it this way . if it didn t take forever to do complicated parts everybody would be doing it |

Try doing a Dellorto for mutipule tight area's.
I just use a piece of wire rounded off and start with a 120 grit wet & dry and then move up the grits then little felt wheels and compound. Yes its time consumming but you get a great result |

hey thanks for the tips..... but cartridge rolls only go to like 160 grit!!! what about going to 4-600 grit!!! are you just supposed to compound the hell out of it with felt bobs after 160 cartridge rolls? and gafmo what do ya mean by
"I just use a piece of wire rounded off" ? "and start with a 120 grit wet & dry and then move up the grits" ? thanks guys

Don't know about the rounded wire deal...he's probably sanding by hand and wraps the paper around it, but hard to tell from that... |

yes 320 grit cartrige rolls is smooth enough for me , with a little bit onof compound over it , gets it smooth enough to buff with a felt bob.
an i also don t know what he means by a rounded piece of wire |

so you put compound on your cartridges? any specific types?

Baz might use buffing compound if he's found it works, but normally you'd use a high-speed grinder's grease (available here at Caswell). It really is amazing how much smoother the rolls cut with grease, and I've found they cut faster and last longer as well, and it helps keep some of the dust down as well.
