I am just finishing plating up a set of springer springs off a old mototcycle. they were pitted pretty bad. My question is by buffing can you anneal the springs? What is the temp of a part your buffing hard? Thanks, Todd

What I do know for sure is that when I was making kinves, I heated files to a dull-to-medium red to anneal them and it worked perfectly. Anybody who is getting that kind of heat from buffing is a hell of a man... A bias-cut cotton wheel would keep the heat down if you're still worried. That's the wavy kind, usually with a steel center. |
