Are you cleaning your buff enough? Are you changing your buff with each different compound?

Are you buffing in one direction or you changing the angle of your buffing? It also could be you are not getting your metal hot enough to melt the rouge!

Buff in one direction then change directions by at least 90 degrees, if possible.

Difficult to explain, and it also depends on the thickness of your metal. You move your buffing wheel fast enough to get the shine you want. You need enough heat to melt the rouge and enough speed as to not burn the metal. It's called the "sweet spot", you'll know when you hit it.
