If your sanding to 1200 is good try brown compound then white.
Yes, you need to clean one compound off the workpiece before going on with the next.
Hi all,
newbie just starting out on the long road of polishing, i have some wheels i wish to mirror finish, i did a set about a year ago but i never quite got them mirror finished!!
My technique is to sand 240 and then wet and dry up too 1200 then start polishing with a electric wheel mounted on a tyre changer, sounds a bit crazy but i think it will work, took some video on my phone but it would only record for 15sec at a time
My question is what mop and compound should i start with and when changing mops/compound should i degrease the wheel or just carry straight on with the next stage of cut?
Thanks in advance

It is best to change wheels, Especially for white it a loose wheel. Your cutting wheels are much tighter.
