Default how do I seal a brass polished item please?

I have a brass indoor watering can like this one to clean up and polish.
I don't know if it is this make but it looks exactly like it. The one I have is over 10 years old and is badly in need of restoration.
I have started and got the bowl part back to looking like new and am considering silver plating the pump and gold plating the handle and push button.

I know that once it is finished it will start to tarnish again and wonder if anyone can recommend a sealer of varnish to spray over the piece once it's polished to keep it's polished appearance.

    thanks in advance.

If it's going to be used indoors, a couple of coats of clear lacquer or urethane from a rattle can will last a long time. I prefer lacquer because in a few years it still may tarnish and the lacquer can be striped with lacquer thinner and then cleaned and re-coated. If you want a care-free coating, have it powder coated clear.

Keep in mind that clear coating seems to MAGNIFY scratches so make sure the parts are polished well.

If you are going to that much trouble to have a great finish, why would you want to cover it with something. Any clear coat I have seen looks like just that: a clearcoat over polished metal. A once a month rub down with some brass polish on a soft rag would keep it pristine.

Thanks for that CarWiz I appreciate your advice.

The item will be used indoors by a 94 year old lady so a once a month rub down isn't an option so the less maintenance the better.

I'm a complete novice on powder coating and didnt know there was such a thing as a p c clear so will read up on that.

As stated in my original post though the item will be a combination of Brass, silver plate and gold plate.

In your experience will this powder coat clear be the route to take for all three finishes please?

The PC will cover all the metals. I did have a second thought though. If the pot has any soldered connections, that will be a problem. PC coating involves oven baking at or near 400*F. That will melt most solders so you may have to fall back to the spray coatings.

It has soldered connections, on the top so it's a clear spreay coat for it, thanks.
