shawn now that you fired it up that stuff will not come off .. the hotter it get's the harder it get's ...

What the tech line got is ceramic that melts under heat to form a barrier.. The spray on high temp coatings you get at the auto parts store dose not have a bonding agent .. so in turn it flakes and burns off

They look good

Well I think it's safe to say that after several hundred miles this coating is worth so much more than what I paid. Looks good, doesn't burn off and total investment after buying a spray gun and compressor is less than what a powder coater would have charged to coat the exhaust. Only used 2 oz (rough guess) to spray a 4-1 motorcycle exhaust.

so from what I'm reading, the Techline will be "tacky" until I get it on my car- I've got long tube V-8 headers and they won't fit in my oven even if I try! Also the instructions say to use a line silica media- my blaster guy has many different grits of crushed glass(powder) and soda which would I want to use? its either that or glass beads but the instructions say NO GLASS BEADS! thanx guy- I really appreciatte everyones help

when i have done the techline finishes in the past it will air dry to touch but will not get fully cured and final hardness till it is heated above 700 degrees. as for media the tech info says aluminum oxide i think and that is what i use all the time. as for glass it says specifally not to use that and i am sure there is a reason but i just dont know why.

Hi im new around here and im looking forward to ceramic coat my header but the prices are outragious . Techline is only 20$ and seams really good by looking at the tread . The only question i have is surface preperation . Do we need to sandblast the header ? Or just a good cleaning using paint thinner would work ?

will this gun do the job ?

Would a nomal gavity paint gun do the job too ? Instead of buying 2 different gun .

either gun will do the job as long as you have a 1.0mm or smaller tip. as for prep if you dont get the headers blasted it probably wont hold up. the surface needs to be cleaned very well as well as be roughened up so the ceramic has some place to bite into the tubing. also when blasting be sure not to use glass beads. the manufacture says specifically not to.

As for the beads your saying to use aluminum oxide ? For the cleaning part what product can i use to do a good cleaning ? When you says the part needs to be roughened up , what do you mean by that ?

thanks alot !
