Default Coloring/finishing Magnesium Bronze

Can you tell me how to color/finish objects made from magnesium bronze? Other than plating is there a way to change the finish/color?

I am not familiar with magnesium bronze. What parts are made of this material. I have machined aluminum bronze, brass, oxygen free copper, oilite, and many other exotics. Your question is open ended. Most all metals can be painted. Some as in aluminum require special primers to promote adhesion. Sanding, glass beading, blasting with different medias, polishing, all change finish and appearance.

First of all thanks for your reply. I am trying to change the color of a Ping Putter Head. Don't want to paint. I thought maybe with being able to blacken stainless steel there might be a way to color this particular metal. I don't have a lot of experience with these processes and the various metals. I have plated one using the nickel plating chemicals.

No problem. Any preferences to what your looking for? Some of the others on the forum may be able to make suggestions now that they know what kind of part your talking about. I'll check with my brother to see what he may know, he's a machinist and avid golfer that is putting out his own putter design. SS

I would like something that stands out from the others. I have refinished several of them but that is very time consuming. Let me know if he is looking for putters to practice on. I have over 1000. Most are from the 50's to 90's. I would like to see what he comes up with.

I haven't found any other coatings for magnesium bronze than you have probably seen at the pro shop. My brothers putters are aluminum and stainless. I finish and anodize with different textures and colors. We are at the end of R&D and I'll take some pictures to show as soon as I'm able. Sorry I couldn't be more help. SS
