Hi.
When restoring a vehicle I need to repaint some black parts (starter, power steering pump, etc.) complexity of these parts sometimes does not allow a complete disassembly for proper surface preparation. At best one could wirebrush the surface of the castings. What paint product, or a combination thereof, would provide the most durable, scratch and rust resistant finish on a less then perfectly prepared iron/steel surface. Thanks. Andrew. |

VHT is the best paint on the market. See http://www.caswellplating.com/vht.htm

I realize that you wouldn't sell it otherwise (little grease job), but which VHT is the one that is most durable on poorly prepared surface. There is engine kind, high heat and epoxy, etc. I just don't want to go the trial and error way. Thanks.

The most durable is the VHT Flameproof coating. You can bake it to make it harder.
Curing VHT FlameProof coatings will air dry In 15 to 30 minutes and, if handled with reasonable care, may be put to immediate use. Heat curing method for maximum resistance to solvents, salt spray, humidity, thermal shock and heat 15 minutes at 250°F 30 minutes at 600°F 1 hour at 800°F 30 minutes at 1,000°F.
