    Default my budget oven build

First off let me say that I'm so broke right now I can hardly afford to eat. So keep that in mind

Right now I'm putting together an oven out of scrap metal I got for free. It is 30" wide x 24" deep and 5 foot high

I already have mechanical contactor I plan to use. I plan to use the parts out of a household oven to control this. But I want to leave my options open to later upgrade to a pid. And later add a fan. How should i run my wiring? Do I run conduit to boxes? For a light do you just use a normal keyless porcelain light with normal light bulb
    Thanks -jimmy

Just a heads up my oven is about the same size as yours Im using a 99.00 forced air propane heater from lowes for heat You can see my post in the forum with some pictures. Im prety sure You could run it with nothing more then a thermometer in the inside and adjust a vent and the heat on low to hold 400 really close Tried it today on my test fire and it worked great.
Maybe save ya some money and time with the electronics untill it made you some money.
hit me up if you have any questions

If you decide to keep the oven electric here are my thoughts:

And later add a fan. How should i run my wiring? Always best to run the wiring external to the oven imo. That way if you ever need to upgrade, add or change anything it's much easier to accomplish. Do I run conduit to boxes? Yes For a light do you just use a normal keyless porcelain light with normal light bulb Yes, but you need an appliance light bulb.

I'm gonna stick with electric. So should I just run emt from a 4 11/16 box and LB into the walls and then go to open wiring to to get to my elements and thermometer?
Does aluminum hvac tape hold up in the oven?

Do I want to put all my elements at the bottom or like 1 at top and 1 at bottom or half way up or what?

you want your elements at the bottom, since the heat rises, especially if you're not going to use a fan at first. i installed our elements on the lower walls, with them coming out of metal junction boxes. i ran hi-temp wire through the walls to another external j-box. then i wired that to regular wire through emt to the control box. i'd do it like that again. the first oven i built i ran the wiring inside the walls, and if anything ever goes wrong, i'm not going to be able to work on it without taking the whole oven apart.
