Default First Time Oven question

You can see by post, I am brand new, so please be patient with me, thanks. I tried search feature, and did not find any info, but there might be a thread like this, if so, please point me to it. OK, here goes...can you see any issues with taking an existing elec stove that has good burner capacity, and framing an oven to sit on top of burners? This could be sized with an oven I have at about 24 deep, 30 wide, and as tall as could be properly heated. This would be a super easy way to fab up an oven, would take up very little floorspace, and would be enough size for my small parts. Thanks for any help!!

The only issue I see is needing to add a circulating fan to even out the temp.

How are you going to control the temperature? Are you going to use a pic/ssr or contactors?

Just asking because the burners usually don't have a temperature control built in - just a low, med and high setting.

If you are going to use the pid, etc. are you going to save any money other than buying new burners?

Are you building this on top of an oven or just a stove top. Either way you may have to somehow insulate the bottom or you'll loose some heat.

Sounds interesting please be sure and post pictures if you move ahead with this project.

Matt

Actually, I was thinking of just giving it a try, and put the oven box directly on top of the stovetop. Then experiment with an empty oven, as the burners have 10 settings each (4 elements ), and install a temp sensor, possibly a fan, and just see how well, I could control it. If it works, ok, if not, I have not lost much as I would then have an insulated box to start over with. I weld, and have some metal for a frame, so sheet metal, and insulation is all I need at this point. If I do it, I will post pics, thanks for all thoughts!!
