    Default Electronics Material list?

Hello all. Im new here. found this site while looking at building a PC oven... Great site. I can handle the oven box build myself, but the electronis is the hard part. So can some one help me with a material list? Pids ,ssrs, fans. elements.

    Specs:
    size...4x4x6
    volts...220

So what do i need to make heat? . Any help will be great. James

    hey james ,

for that size oven about 10kw would get the job done , fan would not really be needed if you place the heaters on the side walls , if your looking for a control box that is pre wired and ready to install take a look at the link below . it includes the pid , contactors , temp probe . basically all you need to do is run your wires into it and out of it . all the components inside are already wired .

i also have heaters and door seal , and wire listed for guys building there own ovens .

if you have any questions just ask

    Store

    thanks ted

    Ted,

When does the high temp wire need to be used? I have seen many ovens that seem to just have normal wiring. Also, on a door that is 4.5 would 2 clamps be enough or should I use 3?

I just picked up an oven and might redo the electronics and add some finishing touches to it like better seals, clamps etc.

You also mentioned that a fan would not be needed if the elements were on the sides. On my oven, they are on the bottom, what is the best way/location to install a fan and to keep it from blowing powder off of parts?
    Thanks, Jason

    THHN wire is ( i think) rated for 600 degrees F .

As im an electrian ,wireing up my controll box isnt a problem . I just like to know what parts Id need. Part # would be great. Ted do u sale seperate parts?James

THHN is rate for only 194 degree F(NEC Table 310.13). You need something like MG wire where it enters the oven to the elements.

The basic parts list is: pid, ssr/contactor, power block or terminal strip, wire. Basic pid would be something like the TET-612 or Auber Instruments pid. A step up would be the Auber ramp/soak model. A still better unit would be something like the Watlows. Lot's of choices, depends on the needs/wants, so there isn't a single choice with model number, just remember to match the pid specifications to the ssr/contractor input power requirements. As for ssr/contactor, imo it's a personal choice, but again remember to match to amperage draw of the elements.

Other bells and whistles that can be added are interior light, fan, timer, alarms, indicator lights, etc.

An easy solution for the fan is to install a switch in the circuit and only turn the fan on once the powder has begun to flow out.

I have no wire that enters the oven, the elements are attached to the inside wall at the normal mounting plate. The rest of the element that has the male blade terminals passes through the insulation and just sticks out the other side. Do, I need to use the MG wire right at the elements? I don't mean to take over this thread, but no one has replied to my questions on the other one.

I would use the mg type wire until you are completely outside of the oven walls. I believed that all kitchen ovens use hi temp wire attaching to the elements.

I think THHN is rated for 600V not 600 degrees. I'm an electricaian also, and I would use an element that has a screw in it instead of a male blade connector. I have seen a ton of GP contactors use the female connectors and it will just melt the wire and terminals if overloaded. Use a fork or ring terminal with #10ga PTFE wire and solder terminal to the wire for a little extra insurance. PTFE is good for 482 degrees and you should not have that much heat inside your oven walls. Just my 2 cents.
