I've been powdercoating for about 2 years now using a normal kitchen type oven in my shop. I'm ready to build a bigger unit to handle motorcycle frames. I'm planning on going 32" X 32" X 60" tall, so I can hang the frames easy. Because it will be so tall, recirculation of the air will be important. I plan to take heated air from the top & duct it back down to near the bottom. I have been checking out this forum & have not seen too much about fan.
I need a fan that can handle the high temps (550 deg F max) for extended periods of time & a gentle air flow (low cfm) so it doesn't blow dust around or blow the powder off the parts. Any suggestions on fan type, brands, vendors, salvage parts, etc? Relative costs? |

That's pretty close to our oven size. We added a small fan at the bottom and it works very well. Many monies for a high temp blower!!
You should be able to mount a small motor on the outside of the oven and run the shaft through the sidewall and mount a small blade 5 or 6". We installed two smaller blades on the fan shaft on the outside of the oven as a heat sling. Total we spent about $50 |

Have you ever looked at the blowers that are used in "air tight wood stoves".......... they are designed to move lots of air, have variable speed and have no problem with heat like that.

edwardpic, If you email the pics of your set up on how you ran your fan and air duct I can put them on my photobucket account and post them on here for all to see or post the link for people to see. I would also like to see how you did it.
Thanks |
