I switched the wires to allow the back unit to run on the broil side of the switch. I then took the switch apart and modified the plastic part of the switch that makes and breaks the contacts so that on bake I have both elements working. I did not take pics of the switch mod but now that I know it works I will take the switch back out and snap a few shots to post.
I have tried it out now the tape on the extension did not seem to be affected by the heat. No smoking and the oven came up to 400f in 10 min and that is with about a 1" gap at the top where the extension meets the oven face. I am going to add two legs to the back of the extension to keep it tight against the oven face. Thanks for the complements pickleboy. My mind gets too busy sometimes but honestly most of the mods come from something someone has done here or suggested I just done it my way. I have a larger oven in the works it will be 7'Dx4'Wx6'H. I will post pics when I get the booth here at the house and start to modify it. Jason www.autocyclepc.com Last edited by cdaeme; 02-04-2006 at 01:06 AM. |

Well it didnt take long to out grow that oven so I passed it along to Rufus here on the board. I ran across a Dryrod oven I was told it was a gas oven but for $200 I could not pass it by. Well after getting it to the shop and investigating it was a electric oven with 6 1500 watt elements mounted in the back behind a panel. They did not work well there for curing powder so I relocated 4 of them to the bottom of the oven and used the other 2 to heat up the extension. I can hang parts up to 75" long and 24" wide without touching either end or side. What do yall think?

I'm also new to the PC business (actually just registered on CASWELL a couple of weeks ago), working hard to put together enough equipment to start up my operation. I've experimented with a few smaller parts (have only 3 household ovens right now), but after seeing these ingenious oven designs on this site, I believe I now have some good info to use for creating my own monster oven!
Just finished my son's '71 Nova and now he wants his valve covers and air cleaner cover powder coated in "psycho lime green" |
