ok i seems that everybody is against using gas for a heat sorce in a oven im building a 4 x 4 x 6 oven about 96 cubic feet by my calculations i need 20kw of heating does anyone know where to get elements from besides using oven elements there is a guy on ebay building them but he wont devulge his supplier

hello dbug10
try this www.tempco.com then click on band heater go to tubular heathers
you can get a kind of oven element 5kw the shape you want
and look at representative section you will find a distributor near you for sure
also you can ask for industrial heaters at your appliance distributor
hope that will help you

I just built the same size oven, used 6 1500W elements-wired it in delta 3 phase...heats up to 425 in about 15 minutes---works great for my company...email me and i will send the part numbers of the elements.

I guess you can't find any old ovens. You can get cheap elements here

Try www.mcmaster.com page number 477...they have finned elements from 500 to 4150W depending on either 120V 04 240V elements

who has done BTU calcs?... specificly;

X btu's to heat Y cubic foot oven to Z temp.

How well the oven is constructed and insulated makes a huge difference. But, I think it's about 650 BTU per cubic foot..

if electric i use 350watts per cubic foot.
