grounding problem,please help.

i have a nordson versa spray system, the last few weeks i have noticed it was getting harder to get the powder to adhere to the parts.the gun works fine but it seems like the grond is not working right.when i pull the trigger it is reading in the negative side, should it be in the positve or is it in the gun itself where the problem is? anything will help. thanks
