Electrical Parts Help

Soooo....

After reading the NUMEROUS threads on wiring I was wondering if I could get a hand locating exactly what I need for my specific requirements. I have looked though McMaster Carr and saw tons of things that I have no clue about.


What I have so far is 4 - 3000 watt elements for a 3 x 3 x 6 oven based on 60 amps and 220V

1. What size of contactor do I need and the poles? A link would be great.
2. Cheap digi control with thermostat for 220V? A link would be great.
3. Anything else?

Try this site it's where I got my info. The elements should only draw 12.5 amps max each this contactor is good for 40 amp motor but 50 amp resistance. Thats what you got. No fancy digi nothing here just a old thermostat from a oven. Just trying to help dude.

1.-if your running 220V 2 pole contactor
2.-$188 for a digital control from McMaster..use one side of the 220V line to power the controller..make sure you get the one that runs off 90VDCto240VDC or you will need a transformer-McMaster part# 38615k11

If you want to save a little money... break it down into two stages so you'll have 30 amp on each contactor. Use a (2) contactor or relay with a 24 volt coil and pick up an inexpensive VA transformer to control the coils.. Your temperature control could then be 24 volt as well.... lots less money
