Question adding an element

can someone help me? I am trying to add an element to my homemade oven. I used a freezer for the cabinette and the elements and control panel from a kitchen stove. when I tried to wire in an extra element I just keep tripping the breaker. What do I need to make this work?

it may not be as easy as adding an element. how did you try to add it in? was it wired in series or parrallel? what is the draw of the original oven? what amp breaker do you have it on? the extra element may put you over the contactor rating or the breaker rating. if you have some of these specs let us know and we can make an educated guess.

I am using the origional control panel from the stove that I got my elements from. I figured that if the burners are no longer in service I should be able to draw enough power on a 220 to run an extra element. I tried to piggy back onto the top element wiring, directly into the main powerline coming in, and any other combination I could think of. All tripped the breaker.
