The schematic shown in this thread is using a 220V contactor/relay and is wired as such to the thermostat. if you use an SSR that is controlled by DC voltage, you need to use the terminals that are designated as the SSR output and aboandon the whole jumper scenario. If you have anykind of of documentation that identifies each terminal on the thermostat I can help you make a schematic that will not "smoke".

    Ken,
I couldn't get the voltage to trip the SSR. I'm fine using a contact block but I may take you up here in a week or two when I put together my next oven. If I didn't mention it I am not building these for in-house use. I want to market these and I've sold several finished units and just boxes but all my wired units have been one or two burners with generic home ove controllers.
My next one is chopper size so I'll need four burners and must use a contact block then.
Price is important because I'll have to double the cost of the electric supplies and will the retailer that I end up selling it two. A $32 block will end up costing the consumer $128.

hello...im a sheetmetal worker so i can build any size box, i have access to many different gauge metals from black iron to stainless steel or galv. so with this wiring drawing in mind, what size oven will this drawing accomidate.. i also have access to some old house ovens so i can strip the elements and anything i might need.. im thinking i want to build a 6'tall x 4'wide x 4' deep oven.. like i said i can build this really easy and i can get it done im a timly matter but the wiring is a whole new ball game.. can i use this wiring schematic and buy the parts from the ebay. basicly i,ll be a copy cat and buy the same setup from the same ebay seller and come up with a trouble free oven that i can plug in to my 220v plug i have in my shop... thanks guys for any advice on this ..

    Hi Dave
Wish I had those skills. But mine works pretty good. Here is a link to my schematic. Gives you a couple of angles to view. Maybe confuse you too.

your schematic is different than others where A2 on the contactor is connecting to 120v line, while others have it on neutral

My Contactor came from http://waterheater.stores.yahoo.net/c25bnf240aco.html it cost $27.90 plus Shipping. Sometimes they tend to take a few days longer then you would like, but I've had pretty good response from them.

The Controller I have came from my Son, but I did get one similar to it on Ebay from Ebayer coldfusionx http://cgi.ebay.com/Celsius-999C-Dig...QQcmdZViewItem
There are others he has, you just have to look at them and decide.

The purpose for my connection on the contactor (A2) is I am using 120V to operate the the contacts instead of 240V. The Contactor above works either way. I'm getting a Mercury switch contactor to see how it would work. This type will never wear out IF it works. That remains to be seen.

    Hope this helps.
